A Beautiful View of Put-in-Bay

Put-in-Bay

Tell me this picture doesn’t make you want to sail away into the sunset.

My family just returned from our Put-in-Bay vacation, where this photo was taken, and had the best time. I can’t wait to share more about our trip with you in the coming days so you can see why you should consider a trip to Lake Erie’s shores and islands too.

I honestly can’t remember the last time my family had this much fun on vacation. We hadn’t even left South Bass Island when my kids began asking when we could return and if they could ask a few friends to go too.

When a place earns the approval of both a teenager and a parent, it must be pretty darn extraordinary.

Put-in-Bay is that special kind of place.

Put-in-Bay!!! I had never heard of it before we moved to Ohio (two moves ago), but my friend and I ended up going there for a girl's weekend. It was a lot of fun.

Great sunset photo!

Yes, that photo does make me want to sail away -- maybe while sipping a nice glass of wine. Love that name -- Put-in-Bay. Wonder why it's called that.

Put-in-Bay is beautiful and likely got it's name from the Native Americans that would cross Lake Erie and "put in at the bay" to rest or escape the winds.

You could have almost that same view while sipping a glass of wine on the lawn of the Doller House, one of the original estates on the island and now home to Put-in-Bay winery. If you're interested, you could also island hop and visit several wineries, taste testing along the way. :)

I grew up in Ohio and summers at Lake Erie were a must. We spent our time either near Lakeside or near East Harbor Beach, but we took boats out to Put-In-Bay. Ahh, what memories you bring back.
