My family has never been one to spend a lot of money on souvenirs. We spend so little when we travel that when I budget for family travel, I allocate next to nothing for souvenirs. Collectively, we share one weakness. We love to pick up embroidered patches from the places that we visit. I blame our obsession on the very first Junior Ranger patch my children received at Assateague Island National Seashore.
They were so proud of their accomplishment and their reward that they excitedly showed their patches, one by one to their grandparent’s at the end of our trip. As their collection grew, it became clear that the kids needed a way to display their bounty.
My solution was for each child to create a one-of-a-kind souvenir blanket using the patches they had collected at their favorite destinations. They selected their patches, arranged them and took the time to carefully sew each patch in its place on a fleece blanket.
The end result was a souvenir they could proudly display and use.
When I was contacted by My Butt-Ons.com and offered a felt custom patch to review, I knew it would make a perfect addition to their aging blankets that have survived years of use. What’s better than collecting patches from your favorite places? I can’t think of anything, except, memorializing your favorite travel memories on a custom patch, designed specifically for you.
I selected one of my favorite pictures because I thought it would make a fun patch. I was pleased with the color and quality of the patch and love the ability to take any picture and turn it into a personalized travel souvenir.
The design feature to create your custom patch is easy to use and if you find you have questions, help is only a click away. You can upload your own design or photo and add text within minutes.
Other Ideas for Custom Patches

MyPhotoPatch applies easily to most fabrics and surfaces (not so great on fleece) when you apply a generous amount of the included adhesive. To adhere, apply glue, hold firmly for 15-20 seconds and do not disturb for the next 5 minutes.
If you decide that you don’t like where you put it, the patch is repositionable and fully removable.
Custom 3 inch felt patches cost $9.95 and can be ordered from MyPhotoPatch. Other sizes are available.
Can you think of any photos that you’d like to turn into a patch to help preserve your travel memories?
