I love roadside attractions. They don’t even have to be an “official” roadside attraction. Anything that catches my eye is game- like this huge dinosaur that is visible from I-65 at Cave City, Kentucky.
This large tyrannosaurus entices travelers to pull over and visit Dinosaur World.
Well, I’m sure that’s what it’s there for. My family has only stopped to photograph the dinosaur, but I have to say it certainly has caught our attention.
Next week my daughter and I will be traveling through Pennsylvania in route to New Jersey so we can take the train into New York. I’m counting on seeing a roadside attraction or two along the way.
What is your favorite roadside attraction?

Nice dinosaur. My favorite roadside attractions are the unexpected ones that just sneak up on us. We were driving in Colorado and passed HUGE arrows (about 30 feet long) that looked like they had dropped out of the sky and diagonally stuck in the ground.

That’s quite a dinosaur! Gosh, I’m sure you’ll come across more fun roadside attractions on your trip. One of the many I’ve seen that comes to mind right at the moment is the largest truck in the world in British Columbia. I was pretty impressed.

I love roadside attractions too! There’s a large mastodon at a road stop in New Brunswick that we have stopped at a few times when traveling the east coast (it’s also 1/2 way between the Equator and the North Pole which is an added bonus as far as roadside attractions go!). When we were planning our trip this summer and talking about driving from Nova Scotia to PEI, the first thing my older daughter asked was whether we’d be able to stop at the mastodon again. 🙂

It is always nice to see the Big Pineapple on the Sunshine Coast of Queensland. I bet the dinosaur is a favourite with the kids.
