I know food trucks are a big craze right now, but until today, I’d not really had the opportunity to check one out. I know larger cities have them, but in my small town, they’re a new phenomenon. When my husband and I were perusing the Restaurant.com app for somewhere new to eat on our romantic getaway, I was excited to find dining discounts for the El Tacoriendo food truck in Columbus, Ohio.
My husband read the address and wasn’t thrilled with the area near the airport, but agreed that we could stop and check it out. We were a bit apprehensive when we pulled up in the parking lot, but it was busy and there were customers at the window so we decided to check it out. Let this be a lesson to never judge a book by its cover- or a food truck by what’s on the outside. We stepped up to the window and knew that anything that smelled that delicious had to be good and we weren’t disappointed.
We both ordered a chicken burrito and a chicken quesadilla to share in case we were still hungry. Our order was complete within minutes. We picked up our bag and headed back to our truck to start the drive home, the plan was to munch on the road. The portions were large. After peeking into the Styrofoam container and my husband and I decided we’d share a burrito. One bite and we knew we’d discovered a hidden gem in Columbus with the El Tacoriendo food truck. The burrito, which was served with sliced cucumbers, grilled onions and mild sauce, was simply amazing.
At home, we gave our daughter the quesadilla. One bite and she looked at me and declared, “This is some good Mexican food! Where did you get this?!” Yep. I think we’re hooked. This won’t be our last trip to the food truck. For those who prefer to dine indoors, El Tacoriendo also has a dine-in location. You’ll find dining discounts for the restaurant at Restaurant.com as well.
If you’re looking for authentic Mexican food, or a new place to eat, check out Restaurant.com for ideas and dining discounts. I purchased a $5 gift certificate for $2, which can be used for any order over $10. With the certificate I paid $10.51 for two burritos and a quesadilla. Not a bad price for lunch. Did I mention it was amazing?
