Fathers Day Gift Ideas for the Man who wants Nothing

Fathers Day gift ideas for the man who wants nothingFathers Day and Mothers Day aren’t holidays that we place great emphasis on in our house. We tend to think more along the lines that mom and dad should be treated nicely every day, not just on special occasions. My husband and I don’t expect our kids to spend money on us to show us they care. Instead, we have always preferred to spend time as a family, sharing experiences and making memories that will hopefully last a lifetime. That said, I do enjoy buying gifts for my husband even if he prefers I didn’t. So what do you buy a man who doesn’t want anything? Here are a few ideas.

Fathers Day Gift Ideas for the Man who wants Nothing

  1. Buy him something fun and make him laugh.

I love to surprise my husband with something that he could never imagine I’d buy him. Like a remote controlled car. Who’d think a 40-year old man would enjoy a souped up Captain America remote controlled car? Not only did he love it, he asked for some mini-traffic cones so he could drive through a challenging obstacle course.

  1. Think of his hobbies.

My husband is an adventurer and treasure hunter at heart. He dreams of striking it rich and finding the mother lode so a gold panning kit was the perfect gift for him. My investment hasn’t paid off in gold yet, but I’m sure that day will come, right?

  1. Buy him something that will get him moving.

Leading an active life increases your lifespan and improves the quality of life. I want my husband to be around for our kids for as long as possible, and I know he wants the same. His job is very physical and he’s not really into going to the gym, but he does enjoy recreational exercise- walking, hiking, and bike riding. Buy him a Frisbee, a football, a new pair of running shoes, a bike or a metal detector (bet you didn’t see that one coming). A metal detector for Father’s Day not only encourages him to get outdoors and gets him moving, it also allows him to spend time outdoors with the kids (if they want to hunt for treasure), and maybe it will pay off like the gold panning kit.

  1. Give him the gift of food.

They say the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach and after 24-years of marriage, I tend to agree. What is your husband’s favorite meal? Prepare it for him on Father’s Day. My husband hates to go out to eat. He will on occasion to make me happy, but eating out for him is probably the equivalent of water torture. Your husband may love to eat out, if that’s the case, pack up the kids and take him to his favorite restaurant. If not, treat him (and yourself) to a food subscription service. Your husband gets great meals and you get the convenience of someone else planning the meals as well as fresh ingredients delivered straight to your home. A win-win for everyone.

  1. Buy him a more traditional gift.

Buy him a watch, cologne or a tie- all great choices for a Father’s Day Gift. Plus, they are easy to find in-stores or on-line. I actually found my husband’s early Fathers Day gift on accident. Not one to wear watches, I asked him to help me select a JORD watch for myself and he mentioned how much he liked the wooden watches. Now, let me give you a little backstory. I’ve purchased several watches for my husband over the years, beginning when we were dating. He has hated Yep. I’ve returned about eight watches over the years. I never would have guessed he would like Jord watches. I loved them. Especially this one with the turquoise face– how beautiful is this? But as much as I liked them, I never would have imagined my husband would.  I’ve purchased him silver band watches, gold band watches and watches that were a combination of both. He always insists that they’re too flashy, but the cool watches from JORD are just the right mix. He was so excited that I couldn’t wait until Fathers Day to purchase his gift. He looked over the website and decided on Fieldcrest in Dark Sandalwood.

The Ordering Process

JORD supplies a handy template that can be printed to measure your wrist to ensure the watch is perfectly sized. My husband cut out the ruler and wrapped it around his wrist so it fit comfortably and according to the directions, we rounded up to the next ¼” cm, placed our order and waited for the watch to arrive.

The Watch Arrives

The watch was delivered in four days after I placed my order. I couldn’t wait to see the watch and so I opened the box when my husband was at work. I was impressed immediately. The JORD watch is delivered housed in a wooden box with a sliding lid. Inside, the custom sized watch was housed on a tiny pillow with the word JORD stitched into the corner. I could not wait for my husband to see the watch, but with our track record, I was a little worried that he’d be disappointed. He wasn’t! He LOVED the JORD watch. It fit perfectly and looked stylish without looking flashy- a look my husband has been looking for for years.

The Verdict- love it or not?

Not only did my husband love the watch, my daughter loved it too and now she wants one. I have a feeling these cool watches will be an amazing gift idea for the holidays for the entire family.

As much as they fall for big toys, a traditional gift like a watch will definitely make them happier. That Jord one looks great, I can take the same color with that. Thank you for the promo!
