My Choice for the Best of the USA Blog Hop in August….
Niagara Falls, New York!!!
My husband and I have visited Niagara Falls several times. When our oldest child was less than a year old, we hopped in the vehicle one nice weekend with no particular destination in mind. We eventually stopped in Washington D.C. before taking a very round about drive to the American/Canadian border to view the wonder of the falls.
We were so disappointed on that trip. The weather, that was gorgeous when our journey began, had taken a turn for the worst. It was freezing and though we could hear the roar of the rushing water, we could not get a glimpse of the falls through the thick fog that filled the air.
Several months later, we planned a return visit. My son doesn’t remember that trip, but my husband and I were impressed. When my husband and I celebrated our 10th anniversary, we decided to drive back to Niagara Falls to celebrate with a room at Embassy Suites overlooking the falls, this time on the Canadian side. I think the weekend would have been very enjoyable had I remembered to pack our birth certificates and the border agent would have been a wee bit nicer.
Last fall, we finally decided to travel back to Niagara Falls as a family so the kids could all experience the power and beauty of this natural wonder. You can learn more about our experience in these posts:

Love Niagara Falls! I grew up in NY so have visited a few times – our favorite is the boat ride 🙂 The kids were never old enough to hike so we may try that on our next trip to see family in the area. Great pic for August!

My husband and I spent the weekend in Niagara Falls about 6 years ago and had a great time. One of our favorite parts was hiking the trails at the nearby park.

We’ve hiked the trails too and really enjoyed it. I wanted to do some hiking on our last trip, but I was vetoed. We are planning to take another trip soon. Since we now have passports, my kids want to visit the Canadian side to see if they missed out on anything. 🙂

So many places in the USA worth visiting! We’re planning to visit all of US national parks next year which I hope would be an awesome introduction of what the wealth of nature this country has to offer.

I love the national parks! Can’t wait to hear about your adventure, visiting each of them in a year! Wow- you’re going to be extremely busy!

Love Niagara Falls! Maid of the Mist was so much fun. These are beautiful photos, Tonya! Though, I have yet to make it to the Canadian side. It would be an interesting comparison. Sorry to have missed last month’s hop. This is a great reminder that I need to start writing USA posts 🙂

Thanks for linking up, Mary! Niagara Falls isn’t a terribly long drive for my family (about 6 hours or so). It’s pretty easy to buzz up for a weekend. I’d love to revisit the Canadian side with my husband again- with passports this time. I think it’d be a more pleasant experience than our last trip. 🙂

My first time joining your Blog Hop because I finally have something about the USA. I’ve always wanted to visit Niagara Falls. I’ll remember to bring my passport to see the Canadian side now that you’ve reminded me.

I’m so excited that you’re able to join me this month, Michele! Niagara Falls is a great place to visit. I really want to visit again and explore more of the not-so-touristy attractions. There’s really a lot of history in the area and so much to see!
