Last year, my daughter and I had the chance to experience first-hand some of the benefits of an Ohio State Park Lodge vacation. I didn’t think it was possible, but I walked away with a deeper appreciation for Ohio as an ideal getaway destination. One other thing struck me as well; the Ohio State Park Lodges are designed to help families create lasting memories. From ideal scenic locations, to evening bonfires, bike rentals, game tables and special family programming, Ohio’s state parks offer tons of opportunities for families to enjoy the outdoors together.
The Ohio State Park Lodges recently announced the Ultimate Summer Surprise Package at five Ohio properties; Salt Fork, Mohican, Deer Creek, Maumee Bay and Punderson State Park Lodges. Introduced last year, the package features a room and $50 in food and beverage for each night of your stay, a savings of 15 percent or more when you bundle your room and food. Guests also receive a bonus “surprise” in the form of gift shop discounts, free bike rentals or free future night stays. Winners may even discover that their current stay will be free.
“It’s not a surprise that everyone loves a deal, and the Ultimate Summer Surprise package is an affordable and exceptionally fun way to experience the extraordinary natural settings of Ohio’s State Parks,” said Hinch Knece, manager of marketing for Ohio State Park Lodges. “With Ohio State Parks within a few hours’ drive of all Ohio residents, these destinations are easy to reach and continually surprise our guests with the wonders of the great outdoors from beautiful beaches to pools to golf and more.”
The Ultimate Summer Surprise package is available for stays May 22 through Sept. 7, 2015 at all five lodges. For additional savings, take advantage of the lower rates typically offered Sunday through Thursday nights. To book the Ultimate Summer Surprise package online, use the promotional code OHSURPRISE at www.ohiostateparklodges.com or individual lodge web sites or call 1-800-AT-A-PARK (1-800-282-7275). Blackout dates and other restrictions apply.
The five Ohio State Park Lodges and Conference Centers are open year round and are operated by Xanterra Parks & Resorts. Salt Fork State Park Lodge is 12 miles from Cambridge near the I-70/I-77 interchange. Mohican State Park Lodge is east of I-71 approximately 75 miles from both Columbus and Akron. Punderson Manor State Park Lodge is 35 miles east of Cleveland and north of US-422. Maumee Bay Lodge is 12 miles east of Toledo and north of the Ohio Turnpike (I-80). Deer Creek State Park Lodge is 35 miles south of Columbus and east of I-71. Xanterra also operates the marina and facilities at Geneva Marina State Park in Geneva-on-the-Lake in northeastern Ohio.
Thanks to the Xanterra Parks & Resorts for alerting me to this deal and providing photos and inspiration for this post.
