Last Christmas my kids set off on a journey to find me the perfect hard-sided luggage. They returned empty-handed. Everything they found in our local stores were too large, too bright & flashy, or too costly. They were disappointed, as was I. So imagine how thrilled I was when I found out that I would receive a Ricardo Elite Roxbury 2.0 Carry-On just in time to set off on the TravelingMom Retreat at Disney.
I could not wait for my package to arrive and I shamelessly stalked my package to see when it would be delivered. The large box I excitedly found waiting by my garage looked imposing but I found it surprisingly lightweight as I picked it up and carried it up the stairs and into the house.
I tore into the box to reveal my very own hard-sided luggage and though I wasn’t initially thrilled with the Black Cherry color, I loved everything else about this piece of luggage.
Features of the Ricardo Elite Roxbury 2.0 That I Love
- It’s hard-sided.
I don’t always travel with my electronics, but when I do, I need to know they are secure. The hard shell of the Ricardo Elite Roxbury 2.0 assures me that with proper packing, my items will be unharmed.
- It has an easy to use TSA approved lock.
I don’t care that TSA goes through my luggage. What bothers me is that someone else could take my luggage and while they could easily grab my entire suitcase from the conveyor belt and make a run for it, I don’t need to make it easy on them when it comes to rifling through my belongings. So yes, I do lock my luggage. The easy to use lock from Ricardo allows me to set my own combination, can be easily reset, and TSA screeners have access to special codes that allow them to open the lock if the baggage must be screened.
- The luggage has wheels.
The luggage pulls easily with the 360 degree spinners. No more lugging heavy luggage through the airport. The Roxbury 2.0 can be pushed easily in front of you or pulled behind you in crowds, making it extremely easy to maneuver.
- The luggage has an Add-A-Bag Strap.
This is genius! The Add-A-Strap feature allows me to attach my purse, backpack or camera bag easily and securely, allowing me to keep my hands and shoulders free.
- Two Compartments make it easy to keep your Luggage Organized.
Two compartments are separated by a zippered divider pocket with a mesh modesty pocket (is perfect for jewelry or undergarments). Adjustable tie-down straps keep my belongings in place, and a built in hanger loop is handy for business travelers.
- The handle adjusts to two different heights.
I love that the handle can be used at the lower heighth for my 5’6” frame and adjusted to comfortably pull behind my son’s 6’5” frame.
- The luggage is expandable.
My tendency to over-pack is no secret. I need every bit of space a piece of luggage can muster. The expansion allows me two additional inches. That’s a big deal for this traveling mom.
- The 21-in Expandable Spinner Wheelaboard is Airline Carry-on Friendly
I almost always pack a carry-on when I fly. It’s nice to know that this piece of luggage nestles comfortably in the overhead cabin.
Features of the Ricardo Elite Roxbury 2.0 I Don’t Love
- I don’t love the color.
I’m a girly-girl. I love bright, feminine colors and patterns. The Dark Cherry did not appeal to me at all when I opened my package and is not the color I initially would have chosen. However, after using the luggage, and getting a compliment or two at the airport, the color is growing on me. It certainly appeals to the rest of my household who are planning to use my Ricardo luggage next time they travel. So even though I don’t love the color, other people in my household do.
- Watch out for the spinners!
While I certainly wouldn’t want to haul a fully-packed piece of luggage through the airport with no wheels, keep a close eye on your luggage on un-level ground where it has a tendency to roll away. Just ask me how I know…
So, what’s so great about the Ricardo Elite Roxbury 2.0? Nearly everything. I’ve used my luggage on three trips since Disney and I’m amazed at how much I can fit in the luggage, how organized it stays and yes, even the classic color is growing on me. Ricardo Beverly Hills offers a 10 year limited warranty so I’m planning on many more trips with my durable polycarbonate hard-sided suitcase.
I’m thrilled to announce that Traveling Mom has teamed up with Ricardo to offer you a 65% discount off their normal prices. Just enter the code TMOM65OFF.
