  • Before hubby's accident, one of his favorite things to do was to hike. Yesterday morning, he asked if I thought we could visit Mohican State Park. I know he's not up for that so we comprised with a picnic lunch at Gorman Nature Center in Mansfield followed by a walk to the edge of the woods from the parking lot. It was a lot for him, but that was his goal.   • Did you know the B & O Bike Trail covers just over 18 miles from Mansfield, Ohio to the small town of Butler? It's a popular spot in Richland County for people to walk, run and ride bikes. Since it goes straight through Lexington and Bellville, it's also easy to hop off the trail for a break to grab coffee at @nickelandbean, an ice cream cone at The Dairy Belle or even something to eat at @brumbys_java_pie_guy.   • I see the spires of St. Peter's Catholic Church each morning that I drive downtown to work at my co-working desk.   • Kingwood Center has long been one of my favorite places to visit in the city of Mansfield. When my kids were tiny, my husband and I would enjoy visiting so they could feed the ducks in the pond and seek out the resident peacocks. When they got older, we'd meet up for picnics with some of our homeschool friends. When my son went to prom, they got their photos taken by the fountains at Kingwood. We've toured the house, taken workshops and enjoyed many traveling exhibits at the estate. And the best part? It's so affordable for families! Cost is $5 for adults and free for those under 12. That includes access to the grounds, greenhouse and self-guided tours of the historic Kingwood Hall which was built in 1926.   • I have something to confess. I haven't always enjoyed living in my hometown of @destinationmansfield but you know that saying, "Absence makes the heart grow fonder?" I fully realized the meaning when my family moved out of the area nearly ten years ago. I not only missed Mansfield, I missed living in Ohio and was so excited to move home after only two years away.   • When was the last time you tried a new restaurant in your hometown? I admit that when I'm not traveling, I'm generally a homebody. That means I'm less likely to try something new and end up visiting the same places. I can get stuck in a rut. But that is about to change! My daughter and I have decided that each Wednesday, we will meet for lunch in our home town of @destinationmansfield. Today we met at @athens_greek_restaurant_mv in downtown Mansfield I really wanted a gyro but opted for hummus and a salad instead. The food was good, service was great and my daughter made it back to work well within her one hour break. Next time I'll definitely try something more traditional. It's a gyro & baklava for me.
