6 Pizza Places You Must Try in North Central Ohio

6 Places to Eat Pizza in North Central Ohio

Pizza.

My family loves pizza.

It’s our go-to when I don’t feel like cooking, when we celebrate a special occasion, or simply on those days when we’re craving some good ole comfort food. Pizza is that food for my family.

We’ve eaten pizza all over the country, but our favorite pizza places are those found near our home. While we have the occasional pizza from a chain restaurant, we especially look forward to those pizza places that perhaps are best known by the locals, the pizza places that you may drive by without a second glance. Those are the places that we’ve found to have the best pizza and the places that we return to over and over again.

6 Pizza Places You Must Try in North Central Ohio

Deschner’s Pizza

A close-up look at Deschner's Pizza

If you like pizza with tons of toppings and cheese, this is the pizza for you. Once my very favorite, I didn’t even allow my kids to eat this pizza until they were five years old because I was afraid they’d choke on the cheese. Believe me when I say no extra cheese is needed. A large pizza with lots of toppings will run around thirty bucks so if you want to try before you buy a whole pie, pop in to this pizza place/carry-out in Mansfield on a weekday during lunch and buy a slice for a few bucks. One huge slice will fill you up. Trust me. You can read my full review here. No dine in offered.

Leaning Tower of Pizza

Leaning Tower of Pizza

The oldest pizza place in Mansfield and the second oldest in the entire state of Ohio, this has been a favorite since I was a child. It was a special treat when my family would drive into the big town of Mansfield to grab a Leaning Tower Pizza and one of their incredible 24” subs. This is one stop that I take my friends when they visit. Everyone needs to see this pizza place. From the colorful mural on the outside of the building to the eclectic interior with a painting of Venus and vintage Farah Fawcett that were pretty racy back in their day, the décor has been unchanged for decades and worth popping in just to take a look around. If you can only try one pizza place from the list, start here. No dine in offered.

Two Cousins Pizza

The huge pizza in the corner is Two Cousins

A fairly new pizza place, this restaurant located in the heart of the Carroussel District in downtown Mansfield has a large menu with many options. From traditional pizzas to the New Orleans inspired Muffaletta Pizza, you’ll find something unique here. And if you thrive on competition, team up with a friend for the Gut Buster Challenge and eat your way through a 28” pizza in an hour. Are you up for it?

Brumby’s Coffehouse & Pizzeria

The Incredible Mr. Ed's Pizza at Brumby's Coffeehouse and Pizzeria in Bellville, Ohio

I love the atmosphere in this pizza place/coffee shop with the hardwood floors and brick exposed walls, this is a gorgeous restaurant to pop in to during lunch and work for a few hours on the laptop.  Stroll downtown Bellville, shopping in the antique stores and pick up a pizza to enjoy at home, or meet up with friends for a dine-in experience. And if you only eat here one time, try Mr. Ed’s Pizza. And don’t forget to take a photo with the mural on the side of the building. Read my review here.

Fast Eddie’s

Also located in Bellville, President Obama stopped here when he was on the campaign trail in 2012. This busy restaurant has some options like the Chicken Bacon Ranch with fresh a spinach topping that you won’t find at the other spots I’ve mentioned.

Besta Fasta Pizza

Besta Fasta Pizza

I’d heard of this pizza place for years, but never tried it until recently. This restaurant offers a small seating area at their Ashland location, but most of the time we prefer to grab our pizza and go. A thinner pizza with less toppings than Deschner’s and Leaning Tower, this pizza especially appealed to my adult children. Besta Fasta offers a pretty extensive menu that includes pizza, calzones, subs, bread sticks (very good), salads and chicken.

I have to recommend Cameo by The Creek in Norwalk. It is part of Eagle Creek golf course but the pizza is some of the best I've ever had. The company started out in Sandusky then spread out and split but these guys use the same recipes as the original. Kind of sweet crust, excellent homemade sauce. 2406 New State Rd Norwalk, OH 44855.
