I’d been planning a trip to Florida for months. I was excited. My husband was excited. My boys were excited. My mother-in-law was excited. My daughter? Was not excited.
Each time I asked the kids for their opinion of what to do on the trip, she would roll her eyes like only a 16- year old girl can, and sigh dramatically, “Why do we have to go anywhere? Why can’t we stay home once in awhile?” I have yet to figure out how my offspring can react so negatively to travel when I’m sure some of my nomadic blood courses through her veins.
Maybe it was the nearly 100 nights we spent in various hotel rooms in one year. Or the cramped RV we called home while traveling with my husband’s job. However I’ve failed her, my daughter does not love to travel and did not want to accompany us on our trip. I’m convinced she may have coerced me into allowing her to stay home if Global Resort Homes hadn’t come to the rescue.
At this point, you may be wondering…
How on Earth did Global Resort Homes Save my Family Vacation?
I was unable to muster a hint of enthusiasm at the mention of an airboat ride, a fun day at Disney, a relaxing day at the beach or even at the prospect of a new stylish bathing suit. I was ready to succumb to the realization that our fun family trip may not be all that I had hoped.
Do you know what finally persuaded her to cheerfully accompany us to Florida?
You may find it hard to believe, but when she learned we would be staying in a house instead of a hotel room, her attitude about our Florida trip totally changed.
When I showed her pictures of the house we would call home- away- from- home for one entire week, she actually got very excited, though she tried to react nonchalantly, I saw straight through her calm exterior.
But do you know what turned her calm resolve into total excitement?
I’ll show you. It was this master suite at 7704 Linkside Loop, a Global Resort Homes property.
My daughter didn’t even care that the home had Wi-Fi, a game room or a heated pool. All she cared about was that she could rest lazily on the comfy chaise lounge at the foot of her King bed and primp and priss in the spacious ensuite bathroom. The large Jacuzzi tub and huge vanity allowed plenty of space for her to spread out her cosmetics and hair products. She felt like a princess. And I owe her happiness to Global Resort Homes.
Who is Global Resort Homes?
Global Resort Homes are vacation housing specialists located in the Kissimmee/Orlando area that manage premier properties for individual home owners. On the Global Resort Homes company website, you’ll find two bedroom condos to seven bedroom homes available as vacation rentals. With over 300 listed properties, you’ll find a vacation home to fit every taste and budget.
Each home is fully furnished to ensure a comfortable stay. Towels, sheets, blankets, pots and pans, cookie sheets, silverware, bottle openers, coffee makers and toasters, its all there so you don’t need to spend time before your vacation planning what you’ll pack.
You’ll even find enough dish washing liquid, laundry detergent, toilet paper, trash bags, soap and shampoo, to get you started so you don’t need to make a trip to the store as soon as you arrive.
About the Home we Stayed in
Each home managed by Global Resort Homes is decorated by the individual home owner, so you’ll find comfortably decorated homes and not a sterile, hotel like atmosphere. We stayed at 7704 Linkside Loop in the private, gated Reunion Resort community. As I stepped through the door the first time, I felt as though I could have been stepping inside my own home. Though it was beautifully decorated, the home was clean and extremely comfortable with oversized furniture, an open floor plan with a screened in pool and gas grill, indications that this home was clearly built for entertaining.
While you may be thinking that I’m a contender for the mother of the year award by offering my daughter my suite, I can’t claim to be that nice. This home actually has TWO master suites! So while I had to give up that cool chaise lounge, I gained my own sitting area and walk-in closet.
This home has a total of five bedrooms and can easily accommodate 10 people comfortably. All but one bedroom is on the second floor which in our case worked perfectly. My mother-in-law accompanied us on our trip and she was grateful that she didn’t need to climb the stairs to reach her room on the first floor each evening.
Each upstairs bedroom also has it’s own in room bathroom with a tub/shower combo. The first floor bathroom is located in the hall, just outside the downstairs bedroom and has a shower only. The master suites both have dual sinks, Jacuzzi tubs and separate showers.
On the way home from the beach, when we were dusty, covered with sand and longing for a bath, my 17 year old son commented how nice it was for all of us to have our own bathroom. He was right, it was wonderful. For the first time that I remember on a vacation, we didn’t need to schedule shifts for the bathroom for us all to get ready and out the door in time in the morning.
Our home also had not one, but two seating areas, something I always miss in a hotel room. Without being forced to be around each other constantly, my teenagers commented several times that they wanted to go back to the house, something that never happens when we’re in a hotel. On this vacation, instead of spending every waking moment sightseeing, we actually planned time to be at the house so we could kick our feet up, relax and enjoy each others company.
For some families, dining out and experiencing new foods may be just as important to you as the vacation itself. That’s not the case with my family. As you can imagine, we’ve had our share of eating out over the years and now when we travel, we long for home-cooked meals. Having a beautiful kitchen to cook in was a huge bonus. My family could eat out if we chose, but we weren’t forced to. I went to the grocery store the first day we were in Kissimmee and stocked the fridge for the week with all of our favorite foods and beverages. Since the home had a gas grill, my husband even enjoyed assisting with did the majority of the cooking!
Thanks to the washer and dryer, this is the first time I’ve ever returned home from vacation without a mountain of laundry to wash!
Conveniently Located
You’ll find the Global Resort Homes conveniently located near all the major attractions. Our home was a short 15 minute drive from the Magic Kingdom and about 25-30 minutes from Legoland. We were also near the Premium Outlets where we shopped for souvenirs at reduced prices.
Final Thoughts
After traveling with my husband’s job for nearly seven years, my family has experienced our share of hotel rooms, temporary apartments, and even an RV. One thing we’ve never done is rented a vacation home. That changed on our trip to Kissimmee and after our experience with Global Resort Homes, I’m convinced that renting a vacation home as opposed to a hotel room will become the norm. This home allowed my family to spread out, kick up our feet and truly relax.

There's something special about staying on Disney property, but there are also times we find a vacation rental home a great option (especially when traveling with extended family or doing on-Disney things). We have a favorite rental company in the Kissimmee area and it's so nice to know that we will be staying in a clean, spacious house with room for everyone to spread out. You're so right - it does cut down on fighting!

The vacation home we stayed at really spoiled us. I hadn't realized how much more relaxing it was to stay in a home as opposed to a hotel until that trip. We returned from vacation rested- because my kids loved hanging out at the property! How often do you return from vacation rested? :)
