Remember when I mentioned that I was ready for a much needed a break? Well it’s time for me to take one. As you read this, my family will be sailing across Lake Erie to Put-in-Bay on South Bass Island.
I can’t wait to share what we learn on the islands, some of the cool things that we find to do and tips for exploring and planning your own visit to Lake Erie.
Here’s an idea of some of the things that we’ll be up to over the next couple days:
We plan to enjoy a train tour of Put-in-Bay which stops at some of the island’s most popular attractions:
- Perry’s Cave
- The Butterfly House
- The Antique Car Museum
- The War of 18 Holes Miniature Golf
- Heineman Winery (Home of the Crystal Cave)
- Perry’s Victory and International Peace Memorial
- Kayaking the Bay
- Doller Estate Tour
We’ll also hop on over to Kelley’s Island where we’ll zoom around in a golf cart to explore the famed Glacial Grooves, Inscription Rock and some of the other natural areas.
Of course we have a few more attractions that we plan to visit and I can assure you, you’ll hear all about those later.
Are you on Twitter? I’d love for you to follow along on our fun, family-friendly, educational adventure!
I plan to share tweets of what we’re up to and what we’re learning, pass along some insider information and tweet a travel tip or two during our stay as well as some pictures. Just follow me on Twitter and check out the hash tag #shoresandislands and #PIBTrip (specific to our trip).
Have you liked my Facebook page yet? If I can get my phone to cooperate I also plan to post a few pictures as well.
Disclaimer: Special thanks to Lake Erie Shores and Islands for arranging our lodging and complimentary attraction tickets and Miller Boat Line for offering complimentary transportation to the island. As always, you can trust me to share honestly about our experience.
