I love that so many places are decorated with lights for the holidays this year. There’s something magical about jumping in the car and driving around looking at Christmas Lights. Some of my favorite childhood memories are from the time I spent with my grandparents and mom and dad searching for brightly lit and decorated houses and marveling over the flashing lights.
We have a list of some of the best Christmas light displays in Ohio for you to check out and if you’re in the Sandusky area, you’ll want to add the light show at Ghostly Manor to your list of places to see if you’re looking for Christmas displays to enjoy with your family.
I visited this spot with my niece and nephew several years ago and stopped by again this past weekend during a recent stay at Sawmill Creek Resort.
Enjoy a Christmas Light Show at the Ghostly Manor
Ghostly Manor in Sandusky has kicked off the holiday season with a free Christmas light show. The show runs daily from Thanksgiving to December 31st. It starts each evening at 6 pm and continues every 30 minutes until midnight.
So load up the vehicle with your favorite people, pack the popcorn and snacks, hot chocolate, and blankets, and head to the Ghostly Manor for some holiday cheer.
If you’re looking for something free to do with the kids, or even a cheap date night, drive into the Ghostly Manor parking lot. Choose a parking spot facing the building, tune your car radio to 99.7 FM, and sit back and enjoy the show.
Watch as thousands of Christmas lights shine to a choreographed display of timeless Christmas classics. Some of the songs I heard during our visit included: Snoopy Christmas, Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas” and my favorite, the Trans Siberian Orchestra- all from the warmth of the car.
In addition to the light show on the building, you’ll find lights in the shape of a train off to the side that is choreographed as well. If you have little ones, you may want to face that display instead.
This free light show is Ghostly Manor’s Christmas gift to the community.
You’re absolutely welcome to show up, watch the lights, and leave, but if you have more time, pop inside the Ghostly Manor Thrill Center and experience the entertainment center. You and your family will have fun for hours!
Escape the cold and snow, and check out the indoor attractions that include the XD Motion Theater Movie, roller skating rink, 3D black-light mini golf, bounce houses, 3-level play area, arcade, and delicious food and drinks to warm your soul this winter!
Pack up your family and enjoy quality time and quality entertainment.
Tips for Visiting
- The light show runs continuously so you may want to tune your radio to the proper channel prior to arriving.
- For the best results, make sure you turn off your headlights. If you have a newer model vehicle with automatic headlights, you may want to ensure that you know how to do that prior to arriving. I turned mine off but couldn’t figure out how to turn off my running lights.
- This is a rain-or-snow event.
